About this brand

Venus is one of the most important names in the history of Swiss chronograph watchmaking, renowned for producing high-quality chronograph movements used by many of the world’s leading watch manufacturers. Founded in 1923 in Moutier, Switzerland, the company specialised in the design and manufacture of precision chronograph calibres that became widely respected for their reliability, performance and elegant construction.

Throughout the mid-twentieth century, Venus supplied chronograph movements to numerous Swiss brands, helping power some of the most desirable vintage chronographs ever produced. The company became particularly famous for calibres such as the Venus 170, 175, 178, 188 and 211, many of which remain highly sought after by collectors and watchmakers today.

The Venus 175 and Venus 178 are especially significant in horological history, having been used in a wide range of military, aviation and sporting chronographs. These movements are admired for their robust design, smooth operation and attractive architecture, making them favourites among restorers and enthusiasts.

In 1966, Venus was acquired by Valjoux, marking the end of independent Venus production. Despite this, the company’s legacy remains firmly established through the countless vintage chronographs that continue to rely on Venus movements. Original movements, dials, bridges, chronograph components and spare parts have become increasingly difficult to source and remain highly desirable for restoration work.

Our collection may include original Venus chronograph movements, watch parts, dials, cases and other collectible horological items. Whether you are searching for a rare chronograph calibre, replacement components or parts for a restoration project, Venus remains one of the most respected names in Swiss chronograph history.
