About this brand
Smiths is one of the most iconic names in British horology. Produced by Smiths English Clocks Ltd., the brand became renowned for manufacturing watches, clocks and precision instruments in Great Britain throughout the twentieth century.
Smiths gained international recognition for producing reliable and affordable timepieces, but is perhaps best remembered today for its military watches and its role in British industrial history. The company supplied watches to the British Armed Forces and produced the famous Smiths W10 military watches issued to the British Army during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The brand is also associated with exploration history, as a Smiths watch accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay during the successful 1953 Everest expedition. This achievement helped establish Smiths as one of Britain’s most respected watch manufacturers.
Today, vintage Smiths watches are highly collectible, particularly military-issued examples, early wristwatches, pocket watches and original spare parts. Their historical importance, British heritage and relatively limited production make them especially attractive to collectors and restorers.
Our collection may include a wide range of original Smiths items, including military watches, wristwatches, pocket watches, watch movements, dials, cases, spare parts and other collectible horological pieces. Whether you are searching for a genuine military component, a restoration project or a complete watch, Smiths remains one of the most desirable names in vintage British watchmaking.
