Genuine WWW British Military Dirty Dozen Record Watch Hands – Hour & Minute Hands

Genuine British military WWW Dirty Dozen Record hour and minute hands.

These are original steel military watch hands, associated with the British Army WWW specification and the Record Dirty Dozen watches. The hands are in generally good condition for their age, with the original luminous material still present.

The luminous coating shows clear signs of age and deterioration, with some of the lume having flaked away over time. The remaining luminous material has developed natural ageing and patina consistent with the age of these original military components. The luminous coating may therefore require restoration or stabilisation depending on the intended use.

The hands themselves are original steel and remain in good overall condition, aside from the deterioration and loss of part of the luminous coating.

Historical Note

The Record WWW was one of the twelve Swiss manufacturers selected to produce watches to the British military WWW specification during the Second World War. These watches are collectively known as the “Dirty Dozen”, and the Record examples were fitted with the Record calibre 022K. Contemporary examples and surviving original components commonly show signs of ageing to their luminous materials, particularly where the original luminous compound has deteriorated or been lost over decades.

These original hands are therefore a useful component for a Record WWW restoration or period-correct project, particularly where preserving original vintage material is preferred over fitting modern replacement hands.
